The Minister of Supply (Mr Sullfc van) • announced that representation® had been made to him by the New Zea> land Rugby Union regarding petrol supplies for the conveyance oi footaaj teams when -no other transport waa available. The union had now agreed > to obtain details from the sub-union* .regarding existing transport facilities., When no other transport was available the Union would make recommendation! on petrol grants. The union would reduce its applications to; a minimum.' “ The' Government feels that the health and fitness of the community are just as important in war-time as i* times of peace, and is making avail* able sufficient petrol to enable isolate* areas to carry on their sports activi* ties.”
