SWEDEN TAKING NO CHANCES.—The news that Sweden, startled by the new ruthlessness displayed by Nazi Germany in her invasion of other Scandinavian neutrals, is taking every precaution short of actual general mobilisation, makes interesting this series of pictures showing that country s military strength and state, of preparedness. Unlike the Danes, these sis million people have small reliance, on pledges and have not neglected in recent years the formation of efficient defence units. Taken on manoeuvres, the picture above shows tanks co-operating with infantry in an advance over rough country, Sweden makes her own tanks and has established a highly efficient tank corps, provided with the latest guns and armament.
