RIFLE SHOOTING

. DUNEDIN DEFENCE CLUB The Dunedin Defence Rifle Club fired a one-range shoot on Saturday, to count for the championship (two optional sighters and 10 shots to count). Conditions were just tricky enough to keep marksmen on the alert. Rifleman It. MTveich was top scorer with 48 off the rifle.

KIWI CLUB The Kiwi Defence Rifle Club fired the third stage of the Greenfield memorial match on Saturday. Weather conditions were good, but a dull light made

shooting sometimes difficult. The highest scores off the rifle were made by W. Crimp and H. Whitehead, who made 66, W. Crimp putting on a possible at 600 yards. The competition was seven shots,,and one sighter at 300 and 600 yards. An encouraging feature was the improved shooting of some of the younger members of the club. The following are the prize winners for the match aggregate;—A grade: W. Crimp 134 (handicap 2); H. Whitehead 132, T Quinn 131 (handicap 4). B grade: H, Butell 133, J. Porteous 130 (handicap 4), J. Thompson 130 (handicap 4). The following is a list of individual scores .with handicap for Saturdays competition:—
