VHAT FINLAND HAS LOST HST«F WAR .£118,000,000 HELSINKI, March 15. (Received March 1% at 12.50 p.m.) The Diet has ratifiod the peace. The war is estimated to have cost Finland £118,000,000* of which half is due to air raid damage. Military costs absorbed a quarter, losses of exports and loss of resources of ceded areas a quarter. The Government expects that the State will have to build at least 70,000 new homes and also construct a new transport system., because the cession of Viipuri cuts off the most important timber outlet—namely, Siama Canal.
Th« lost resources include valuable forests, sawmills, pulp factories, ironworks, sulphide and sulphate plants, flourmills, and fishing •rounds. < The treaty also compels the Finns tp pay half the cost of the railway to Kemittrask, which is putting a noose round their own necks, enr afaling the Russians to pour across Lapland, cutting off Finland from Sweden.
