DEATH IN THE DARK

Open verdicts were returned by the acting coroner, Mr W. R. H. Heddy, at Paddington, London, on two victims of accidents in the black-out. They were Thomas Sharrocks, aged 52, shop porter, of St. Pancras, who was found dead at the Oxford Circus end of Upper Regent street, and Francis Richard Buckingham, aged 50, printer’s assistant, of Upper' Holloway, who was discovered in. the roadway in Charing Cross Road.

Mr Heddy said the fate of people knocked down in the black-out must in many cases remain a mystery.
