ST. KILDA CARNIVAL
The St. Kilda Beach Improvement. Society and the Otago Amateur Swimming Centre have been granted a permit by the Otago Provincial Patriotic Council to promote a carnival at Kettle Park, St. Kilda, from Wednesday next, till Easter Tuesday, March 26. The public will remember with pleasure the entertainment provided by these two bodies at their annual carnivals in January, and the committee
confidently expects that even greater support will be given on this occasion, when every penny raised will be handed over to the local Patriotic funds. A feast of entertainment has been arranged for the various evenings, and the holiday afternoons will be devoted to entertainments for children. The grounds are now being prepared and all the necessary coloured lights are being installed to turn the evenings into a fairyland. The location of the carnival is ideal, right at the St. Hilda tram terminus, and, as the ground is sheltered by belts of trees, conditions should be perfect for the spending of pleasant evenings in a real carnival spirit. In addition to the usual carnival games and entertainments, the committee has been successful in again obtaining those popular devices, the Ferris wheel, chair-o-planc, and merry-go-round to provide further thrills for the public.
