(Received March 14, at 11.45 a.m.) After one of the most remarftabla salvaging feats performed in Australia the Union Company’s freighter waa freed from the wreckage and bertnea safely. Two' divers, at a depth of loft, cut through the thick, steel plates tor 20ft with a special under-water oxyacetyleno plant. [A message received °” * stated: A freighter of about 2,800 tons, owned by the Union Steam Company, and-engaged in tne_New land trade, was badly hcled in a collision with an 11,000-ton Blue Star liner near the harbour bridge late last night. Tugs attempted to tow 'the freighter to Darling Harbour, but sho had to be beached to prevent sinking. A large hole was torn in her bows, penetrating through to the crew a sleeping quarters.]
