CRITICS OF GOVERNMENT DEPARTMENTS
[Pee United Press Association.]
AUCKLAND, March 14
“ During the past year or two, doubtless due to shortage, of funds, many Government departments have been taking three, four, or even six months to settle their accounts, and although they have forfeited any right to cash discounts, they are still claiming them. This is not fair commercial practice,” stated an Auckland business firm in a letter read at to-day’s meeting of the Auckland Chamber of Comthink we should ask the Government to adopt a uniform method re-o-arding its buying and selling,” said Sir Harvey Turner. He added that when business firms bought grain from tho Government, a deposit was required before the order was supplied, but the position was entirely different when the Government was the buyer. After discussion, the matter was referred to the executive for appropriate action.
