In addition to filling in 200 miles of new coast we discovered a vast mountain range to the south, rearing thousands of feet above sea level, an ice-covered island 80 miles off shore, mountains to the southeast, and a great pack-enclosed sea. The discoveries followed tho Bear of Oakland’s 18-day battle with icebergs and blizzards.”
