RED CROSS AND ST. JOHN

MEETING OF JOINT COMMITTEE A meeting of the lied Cross and St. John Joint Committee was attended by Mr J. W. Smeaton (chairman), Miss C. Graham, Mrs Stanley Batehelor, Mrs G. R. Ritchie, Miss B. Farquhar, Mr O. Ij. Ferens, and the secretary, Mr E. J. G. Johnston. On behalf of members the Chairman welcomed Mrs Ritchie back from her sojourn abroad. The committee was pleased to receive a number of letters from soldier patients who had boon remembered during the recent holiday season. The committee was also gratified to receive «i letter from an ex-inmate of the Jled Cross Home at, Montecillo. The writer stated that he felt compelled io let them know how much ho had appreciated the many kindnesses

towards him, and for all that had been done for him while in the home. A letter was received from tho Hospital Board thanking the committee for the regular visits of its representatives to soldier patients in hospital, and for kindly offices in various ways which meant so much to these men. Airs Batchelor mentioned a special case of a returned man in hospital. A little help, she said, would be welcome. It was resolved that the matter be left in the hands of Airs Batchelor. Matron Douglass reported satisfactorily regarding Moutecillo Homo. Following the vacation tho home wan reopened on January 23, and ]o patients reported back. At present there were 17 men in the homo. Groat regret was felt by all in the passing of an old comrade, Air John Alontagne. Afiss Nita Dempster and Alias Patricia Cunningham had been appointed to till vacancies on tho staff. For the new year a number of acceptable gifts bad already been received for the benefit of patients. Authority was given to effect certain renewals about the home.
