MODEL ENGINEERING

MEETING OF SOCIETY The chairman (Mr R. B. Dick) presided at the monthly meeting of the Model Engineering Society last Saturday evening. Mr Dick said the opportunities model makers-had of talking together concerning their hobby were all too few, and it had been decided not to arrange any lecture or demonstration for the February meeting, but to leave the time free for members to compare notes together. Among the models on view was an ingenious model of a log cabin made by Mr Passmore, jun. It was constructed of several hundred empty cartridge shells. A model locomotive water tank, “O ” gauge, was shown by Mr H. Riddle. It was decided to recommence work on tho “ O ” gauge railway track that was begun last year. Although a large amount of work was done, much remains to be accomplished before the track will be ready for the winter show in June. Congratulations were extended to Mr W. Angus for upholding the honour of the Otago Society by gaining fastest time in speed boat trials at Auckland, 30.4 miles an hour being registered.
