INCREASE IN PAY [Pen United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, February 22. Slightly higher rates of pay for orchard workers, ranging from about Id an hour to 2s 6d a week, arc provided in the agricultural workers’ extension order, 1940, which was published with
to-night’s ‘ Gazette.’ The new order replaces the agricultural . workers’ order, 1938, and • the new rates of wages will be effective from February; 1. The remainder of the provisions became operative after the publication of the ‘ Gazette.’ The new order amends various other general provisions, mainly affecting hours and annual holidays, and extends to orchard workers the provisipns of the Agricultural Workers’ Act in respect of under-rate workers and accommodation, the keeping of time and wages books, etc, _
