SURF REPORT

IMPROVED STATE OF REACHES CARE STILL NECESSARY BY BATHERS Although conditions during the last week or two have not been conducive to surf bathing with any great degree of enjoyment, prospects of better weather and the improving state of the beaches should result in good patronage at local resorts over the week-end. St. Clair beach is in good order, the sea is fairly moderate, and the temperature of the water "'somewhat fresher than has been the case for some-time past. There is a rip running towards St. Hilda- and bathers are again warned to keep- between the flags. St. Hilda beach has been very changeable this slimmer, but latest indications are that it is improving. There are two dangerous holes on each side or the flagged zone, but otherwise the beach is in fairly good order and reasonably safe for bathing so long as bathers exercise ordinary care and beep between the flags. There is a rip running towards Lawyers Head. Tomahawk beach is in good condition, and the sea, which " has ‘ been rough, moderated this morning. Brighton beach, one of the most popular this summer, is also in a very* good state, and the sea is moderate.
