THE “ AB ” “ PACIFIC” 4-6-2 type of locomotive came 43 years after “ Josephine.” The first of the “AB” class was built at Addington Railway Workshops in 1915 and was later named “Passchendaele” to commemorate the distinguished part played there by New Zealand soldiers during the World War, The weight of the engine and tender was 84 tons 15cwt.
