Tho driver of the motor car in which were the twin sisters Doreen and Bernice Lumley who wore killed as the result of the car’s collision with a truck at the Mount Wellington highway and Lunn avenue intersection on October 1 last, Randolph Peter Sharp, a motor mechanic, aged 20 years, stood his trial in the Supreme Court before the Chief Justice, Sir Michael Myers, and a jury, on the charge of negligent driving so as to cause death. After a retirement of just over two hours the jury returned a verdict of not guilty and the accused was discharged.
