GATHERING OF THE CLANS

CENTENNIAL FUNCTION The announcement in this issue of Scottish Centennial celebrations should be of special interest to the people of Dunedin and Otago. The first settlers in this province came from Scotland, and it is particularly fitting that part of the province’s celebrations should take the form of a Scottish concert. This function, which is to take place in the Main Town Hall on February 24, will he' under the patronage of the mayor. Mr A. H. Allen, the Centennial Committee, and the Council of Dunedin Scottish and kindred societies..

Mr Arthur Macdonald has arranged the .programme, and it should be one of the finest ever presented to those in Dunedin who love the national songs of “ Bonnie Scotland.” Talented artists will present a delightful playette, and a special attraction will he the singing of a number of Maoris, The beauty of the Maori voices, combined with their natural aptitude for

harmony, should ensure presentations of a high musical standard. Early booking is desirable to ensure seating accommodation, and the box plan will open at Begg’s oh Monday. The Orphans’ Club augmented orchestra will render popular selections during the evening, and the Dunedin Highland Pipe Band will play a number of Highland airs.
