Mr James Begg left this morning for Wellington to attend a meeting of the Meat Board. Mr C. Stanley Smith, Mr S D. Smith, and Mr W Easton left this morning for Rotorua to attend the annual meeting of the Newspaper 'Proprietors’ Association and of the United Press Association. Miss E. M. Henderson, of the staff of Otago Girls’ High Schol. returned last night from a trip abroad. Mr H. L. Gibson left this morning for Christchurch to attend a meeting of the executive of the Group Travel Association. Archbishop Panico, Apostolic Delegate to Australia and New Zealand, arrived by car this afternoon. He will spend to-morrow here, and returns to Christchurch on Saturday morning, ' Advice was received at the meeting of the Otago Land Board yesterday that Mr G- W. Stuart had been reappointed a member of the board. Mr John Elvidge, of Messrs J . Rattray and Son Ltd!, has been appointed to succeed the late Mr C. W. Rattray as local director of the South British Insurance Company Ltd. Mr Robert Davidson Veitch, A.M.I.E.E, A.M.N.Z.1.E.., of Milton, engineer to the Otago Electric Power Board since 1933, has been appointed engineer to the South Canterbury Electric Power Board, in succession to Mr G. W Morrison. Mr Veitch was installing engineer to the Central Otago Electric Power Board in 1925, testroom engineer to the Otago Electric Power Board from 1925 to 1927, and assistant engineer to the Otago Board from 1927 to 1933. He made an educational tour of England and Europe in 1931 and 1932. He will taka up his new duties in a month’s time. There were 28 applicants for the position.

Professor J. Reid Burt, editor of the ‘ New Zealand Dental Journal,’ _ returned from the north this morning, having attended throughout last week the annual dental conference in. Wellington.
