Nearly 20,000 people, including almost every Sydney jockey and racing identity, filed past the bier in the Darlinghurst Chapel yesterday afternoon and night. Leading racing men paid the highest tributes to Lappin’s ability and character. Other jockeys paid a tribute to him as the best apprentice in Australia. Lappin started riding in January, 1937, and rode 160 winners. INTERNATIONAL CYCLISTS NO GRAND PRIX IN 1940 Press Association —By Telegraph—Coyprigbt MILAN, February 11. (Received February 12, at 1.30 p.m.) The International Cyclists’ Union decided not to hold the Grand Prix in 1940. The world championship in 1941 arid 1942 will be contested.
