BRITISH CAR EXPORTS

Tho motor industry of Great Britain, although to-day largely employed in making aircraft, munitions, etc., has done wonders in maintaining her export of motor vehicles during the first months of the war ; in fact, her export figures for the last quarter created an all-time record. In November alone England exported 300 motor vehicles each working day, an increase of 26 per cent, on the figures for November, 1938. This fact indicates what an effort Britain is making to maintain her overseas markets. In 1938 Great Britain exported 20.1 per cent, of her car production and 14.8 per cent of her output of commercials. Australia was her best customer. Sales of British-made vehicles in the Commonwealth that year reached 28.380 units—3s.79 per cent, of the total sales of new automobiles.
