Candidates within one month of these age limits may be considered in exceptional circumstances. Applications for entry must reach the Defence Office NOT LATER THAN 12th APPIL 1940 ' Twenty SHORT-SERVICE ORDINARY * SEAMEN are required for entry in June, •1940. Candidates for entry should be between - the ages of 17£ and 25 on 14th June, 1940. Service is for six years in the New Zealand Naval Forces, .and six years m the Reserve, with an option of transferring to continuous service if recommended. Applicants must have served for a period of not less than five years as an Apprentice Engineer, and have had experience with Marine Diesel Engines. They should hold a certificate not lower than First Class P.V.O.S, or Second Class Coastal Motor Engineer! Details ot apprenticeship and experience as a Marine Engineer must e submitted. Salary payale £3l per month; age not lo exceed 45 years. Appointment in first instance will be under control of Navy Office. Successful applicant must be prepared to take up duty not later than March Ist next, and will be required to bear any expenses incurred in travelling to take up appointment.
