ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS
FATAL FALL FROM ENGINE. Admitted to the Wellington Public Hospital on Saturday evening suffering from lacerated wounds to the scalp and from concussion, Claude Lealand, an engine driver employed by the New Zealand Railways, 1 died in hospital at 1.45 p.m. on Sunday. Lealand, who was 42 years old and lived at 6 Eixon avenue, Wellington, fell from the cab of an engine in the railway goods yard shortly after 5 p.m. on Saturday and was unconscious when taken to the hospital. His wife 1 died about three months ago. There are no children. LACERATED FOREARM. Laurence Long, a labourer for the Dunedin City Corporation, was admitted to the Hospital at 8 a.m. with a lacerated forearm. It was struck by a piece of rock while he was working at Wakari. He lives at 734 Highgate.
