MEETING OF BOROUGH COUNCIL The first meeting of the St. Kilda Borough Council for 1941) was held last night, the mayor (Mr J. J. Marlow) presiding. There were present Crs W. Rutherford. - H. H. The financial statement recommended the payment of accounts, £2,049 19s 6d. Receipts were reported at £2,666 10s 10d, the. bank balance showing a debit of £278 7s 4d. The foreman (Mr J. C. Clyina). reported on work demanding his attention in the period ended January 19, Ho recommended sealing four chains in Young street and scaling Bridgman street during the fortnight. The plumber (Mr A. X. Shepherd) reported having repaired 83 water hursts in the five weeks ended January 17. Other work needing his attention was also reported upon. Water consumption was noted at 6.357,000 gallons for the past five weeks, the cost being £251 12s Bd. For the preceding three weeks the cost was £195 2s Id. ‘
