Ronsard Mares. Some sires seem to transmit their merits to their daughters rather than to their sons (says the ' Australasian '). Ronsard is shading well in this respect. Others—the great Heroic, for example—produce comparatively few females of racing note. Others, again, such as Cray Lothario, spread their qualities evenly between their sons and their daughters. Will Be Fancied, Southern Sail, who is engaged in the Trial Handicap, to be run on the first day, with 8.3 to carry, has had only one race to date, at Gore last October, and she shaped very encouragingly in finishing third to Mondello and Heidelberg.
