Tho principle of this thing is wrong. The Government should undertak all the work and do the job properly.” After a discussion, in winch the view was expressed that it was a wonderful thing for the men who were going abroad to know that tho people were behind them and that the Government could not do everything, tho Chairman expressed tho opinion that the operation of tho Metropolitan Patriotic Committee would not be so effective as tho system adopted! last war, when local committees showed the greatest enthusiasm and a fine spirit.
