CRUSADE FOR PEACE
EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS AN AVENUE POPE'S DESIRE EXPRESSED [Pee United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, December 7. The Pope desires the National Eucharistic Congress, to be held in Wellington in February, to be a crusade for peace, announced Archbishoip O’Shea at St. Patrick’s Colege, Silverstream, to-day. The archbishop said there was to have been an international congress in Europe, but this had been cancelled because of the war. The Pope was pleased, therefore, that there was going to he a Eucharistic Congress in the world this year despite the war. The Minister of Justice and Acting Minister of Education (Hon. H. G. R. Mason) said he was thankful for the decision to hold the congress despite all the difficulties created Dy the war. It was an act of faith which could be of assistance in giving a direction to the world, which much needed help.
