Captain H. A. Dillner, formerly mar-i ine superintendent at Dunedin, left by the through express this morning oh transfer to Auckland. Mr C. H. Adolf Mann, who adjudicated the singing at the competitions festival, travelled to Christchurch by this morning’s express. Dr D. G. M'Millan, M.P., returned yesterday from Wellington. At the meeting of the Taieri County. Council yesterday the chairman extended a welcome to Cr Sutherland, who was recently elected to represent the East Taieri riding. The appointment has been made to the teaching staff of the Wanganui Collegiate School of Mr H. R. Percy, who is due to arrive in Auckland on September 4 from England. Mr Percy is an Oxford Rugby Blue, having won his place in the Oxford team as a freshman in 1936. At the sixth congress of the Baptist World’s Alliance, held at Otalanta G.A., United States, last month, Dp James Henry 'Rushbrook, M.A., of London, was unanimously elected president. The retiring president was Dr George W. Truett, of Dallas, Texas. Dr Rushbrook, who is the general secretary of the Baptist World’s Association, visited New Zealand in 1932 to be present at the jubilee of the Baptist Union of New Zealand. The congress is held once every five years—on each occasion in a different country.
