OTAGO TOURING TEAM

TO-MORROW S MATCH ANOTHER SOFT GROUND THE AUCKLAND FIFTEEN [Prom Our Reporter.] AUCKLAND, August 25. Tho Otago team returned to Auckland last night from Whangarei, and is staying at the Commercial Hotel. It was joined here by Dave Trevathan, who arrived by air yesterday and was given a warm welcome by his teammates. The whole side is fit and well, and in this respect it has been particularly lucky, so far escaping even minor injury. This morning the team practised at Victoria Park, and afterwards visited Eden Park, which is very heavy after rain. There was a heavy downpour last night, and even though the weather which has broken fine, continues so, tho ground looks certain to be soft. The Auckland team is Full-hack.—W. Hare. Three-quarters.—J. Dick, D. L. M. Martin, J. Molly, and L. Schubert (one to be omitted, probably Martin, who has an injured knee). Second Five-eighth.—D. Brady. First Five-eighth.—-N. Pearman. Half-hack.—F. Cooney. Forwards.—J. Gilmore, C. S. Pepper, A. Moffitt, H. F. M'Lean, H. Priest, W. N, Carson, W. Smith, D. Bailey. There are several changes in tho team which was defeated by Hawke’s Bay. Brady, who could'not play against Taranaki and Canterbury, goes in again in place of Curtayne. Auckland has Dick, Pepper, M'Lean, and Carson, who have worn the All Black jersey, and in tho Otago team there are Mitchell, Trevathan, and Quaid. The Otago team is not likely to forget tho wonderful reception accorded it at Whangarei, and as the first South Island, provincial side to appear there, there is not the slightest doubt it created a fine impression both on and off the field. The entertainment was of a lavish nature, including a dinner and dance after the match, while yesterday morning nearly every member of the team was taken to various points of interest in the district, including the Kamo mineral springs, where most of the players enjoyed a swim.
