FAILING TO ACCOUNT FOR DEPOSIT [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, August 23. Eric Neville Hill (27) was charged today with theft at Christchurch on August 13 by failing to account to J. T. Christie for £25 received as a deposit from a client on a car that he had demonstrated for sale. Hill did not appear at work the following day, nor did he inform his employer that tie had received l the deposit. He was located later in Wellington. Counsel said the offence was committed more through insensate folly than criminal intent. The accused took too much liquor with a party of Australians. and next morning woke up m a strange hotel. He found he had lost his money. Unfortunately he also lost his head,' and attempted to run away. He was placed on probation for two years.
