NEW U.S. STANDARD DESIGN.

The-United States Maritime Commission is inviting tenders for a new series of cargo vessels to be known as the “ 0-1 ” design. Shipbuilders may enter bids for from one to five vessels. The new tvpo will be smaller than the “0-2’*' and “ C-3 ” types now under construction, the specifications including shelter deck and full scantling vessels with either Diesel or turbine machinery. The vessels, which will have a raked stem and cruiser stern, will be 413 ft overall, with breadth moulded of COft and depth moulded to shelter deck 37ft din in the shelter-deck type. Their gross tonnage will be about 5,028. The propelling machinery will be of 4,000 s.h.p., designed to give a service speed of 14 knots at loaded draught. A crew of 43 will be berthed amidships and there will be accommodation for eight passengers. There will be five cargo holds. AT OTHER PORTS.
