EXTRADITION TO MELBOURNE

ALLEGED THEFT OF SEWING MACHINE [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, August 22. Arrested in Auckland on a provisional \varrant issued in Melbourne July 4,. Thomas Frederick Berghoff, Aged 42, appeared in the Police Court to-day before Mr F, H. Levien, S.M., who made an order for his extradition to Melbourne in the custody of Detective A. J. White. Bergholf was charged that at Prahan, Victoria, between May 16 and Juno 23, being a clerk or servant in the employ of the Singer, Sewing Machine Company, he stole a sewing machine. Detective White produced the original warrant, which, he said, he read to the accused. Berghoff admitted that he was the person named in the warrant. Detective White asked that the accused be remanded to Melbourne, where the offence was alleged to have been committed, and where the original warrant was issued. The accused left this evening by the Monowai for Sydney.
