FORMER HEW ZEALANDER IN CANADA New Zealanders will be interested to read that the former Miss Barbara Mackenzie, of Wellington, who became Mrs Irving Robertson, of Toronto, was, as president of the Canadian Mothercraft Circle, summoned to an audience by Queen Elizabeth during their Majesties’ recent tour. Mrs Robertson received her training at the Wellington Hospital, and nursed in the Great War, when she met Mr Robertson. In 1922 she left for Canada to continue her profession, and in 1928 she married Mr Robertson, a prominent newspaper proprietor, and at their beautiful home in Toronto, entertained the Press delegates from New Zealand in 1931. ' Lady Helen Graham, Her Majesty’s lady-in-waiting, wrote to Mrs Robertson to say that the Queen, who was president of the mothercraft work in London before her accession and is now the patron (as she is the patron of the Canadian society!, hoped to learn more of the work in Canada while in that country. This recognition lyv Her Majesty of the importance of care for mothers and babies will give an impetus to the advance movements in maternal and child care. .Mrs Irving Robertson was received in audience by Queen Elizabeth by Her Majesty’s request ,at the reception given at the Parliament Buildings by the Lieutenant-Governor of Ontario and Mrs Matthews.
