TAIERI COMPETITIONS
MEETiMG OF COMMITTEE The Rev. J. N. Goodman presided at a. meeting of the committee of the Taieri competitions festival. Correspondence was received from Mr George Wilkinson (musical'judge), Mrs J. A. Casey (national dancing judge), Miss Joan Crossan (stage dancing judge), and Mr H. M. Wilson (donor of the Wilson Cup). Miss E. Langley’s offer of two special prizes for boys’ songs was accepted with thanks. The addition of a new class—vocal quartet, adults (any voices)—was confirmed 1 Mr B. Ewart was added to the committee. The following intimated- that they were willing to take the chair at the various concerts:—The mayor (Mr W. P. Hartstonge), the Revs. S. C. Read, E. P. Y. Simpson, A. Macfarlane, H. W. Haigh, Adjutant Creighton, and Mr Lee. Various arrangements for the concerts were discussed. Mr W. Campbell was appointed competitors’ marshall, Mr B. Ewart judges’ and Press steward, Mr S. Dyer chief usher, Miss J. Harrison ticket box, Mr W. Roberts chief doorkeeper, and Mr S. W. Osborne stage manager. ■The Secretary reported that -toady inquiries were being received for schedules.
