The Hon. M. Connelly, M.L.C., leffi this morning for Wellington. Mr J. T. Paul left this morning for Wellington to attend a meeting of the National War Funds Council.

At a meeting of the executive of the Territorial Asspeiation of Otago held last night the chairman (Dr Roland Fulton) congratulated Mr N. R. Wilson on his nomination as officre commanding the battalion being formed by the returned soldiers in the area. Mr and Mrs A. B. Natusch will leave by t|ie Rangitata this week on a short trip to England. Mr Natusch is manager for J, B. Westray and Co. (N.Z.) Ltd., and in his absence Mr David Crosbie will act as manager.

Constable S. B. Holder, who has been stationed at Dunedin for the past 12 years, mainly in the district office, has received notice of his transfer to, Waimate, where he will replace the late Constable Watt. In addition to being a well-known police officer, Constable Holder is a prominent figure in swimming and athletic circles. Mr and Mrs John Knewstubb, of Port Chalmers, celebrated their golden wedding to-day. Mr Knewstubb is well known as a builder of wharves, dredges, and bridges. He and hiS brother built and owned the big. sailing yacht White Wings, which was an outstanding pleasure and racing, craft some years ago. Accompanied by good wishes. Miss T. Noy was presented last night by the Port Chalmers Councillors with an automatic electric iron as a wedding present. Miss Noy was an assistant in the town clerk’s office.

Flags were flown at half-mast to-day at the University and Dunedin Hospital in honour of the memory of Captain C. Murray Arthur,- of the Royal Army Medical Corps, whose , sudden death at the age of 28 years took place at Chakrata, India. Deceased was ,an ' old boy of the Otago Boys’ High School, and a graduate of the Otago Medical School. He was the youngest son of Mrs F. Arthur, Glendining Avenue, Dunedin, . and a .brother oi Professor E. R. Arthur, of Toronto, F. S. Arthur, of London, L. 3. 0, Arthur, of Heriot, and 1. A. Arthur, of Invercargill.
