Dr J. M. Mooroy’s subject lasi night was *• The Machine Called Man.’ He said: “The average man has no ambition to know the why and wherefore of existence, and has not any idea of his divine inheritance. The old teaching that man is born in sin. and shapen in iniquity, that he is a poor, miserable sinner and something quite apart from God is largely reponsible for this state of affairs. Tha status of women as a mere chattel to minister to the gratification of man’s desire was also the direct result of the wrong conceptions of the past, huh now they are throwing off the yoke and demanding their right as man’s equal and true helpmate.” “ The idea that God is a Being apart from His creation has produced an inferior estimate of man’s true naturefor God is All and All is God,” said tha doctor. “ God is That which is never a'bsent, but always present everywhere. We must see Him in everything and everything a part of Him. He is the Centre and the Circumference. . the Alpha and Omega, and Man is God in manifestation. A realisation of this great truth gives a new outlook on life, and makes it worth living. The material ends for which, we strive appear less desirable, and lose their power to hold the mind. The constant urge towards self-seeking becomes distasteful when we know that man can. never be apart from God. the Giver of All Life. 5 “ All growth must come from.withm like the unfolding of the petals, of a flower, and it comes from' the Divine Spark, or Christ within, which is awakened by a realisation of our true relationship to God. Jesus, who manifested this relationship to a superlative degree, said, ‘ I, and My Father, are One,’ and the sum total of His teachings is that this realisation . can be achieved by all mankind. The man, tjie spirit from God, has the same attributes as the Power that brought him into being, and the personality is the vehicle for the expression on tha earth of those God-like attributes. lu what light then do the petty things for which we strive appear when this truth is brought- home to the soul P The jealousy, the unjust criticism of our fellows, and the selfishness with which we endeavour to attain our ends appear in their true light as things o( the flesh, while the things of'the spirit, the eternal verities, become the goal of our striving.
