THE COMPETITIONS

CHILDREN S DAY RESULTS ACTION SONG PLEASES THE JUDGE LARGER ATTENDANCES OF PUBLIC Increased support on the part of the public was noticeable throughout the day on Saturday when the thirtyeighth annual festival of the Dunedin Competitions Society was continued. The weather relented for one thing, and for another the classes, which were entirely composed of children, were very large, and in themselves were responsible for attracting many members of the public. Performances generally all possessed the charm invariably to be found with juvenile entertainment. One class, the child’s action song, 12 and under 16, in character (own selection), was particularly fine, and the judge (Mr Adolph Mann) expressed delight at the standard revealed. So impressed was he . that, apart from announcing the three placings, lie highly commended five other competitors out of a class of 27. The children’s action choruses were • continued a stage further, there being two entries: Miss Anita Winkel’s Juveniles, - in , ‘ Spring’s Return,’ and Miss Edna Lungley’s Juveniles in * Hungarian Dance.’ ' Mr J.
