(Received August 19, at 11 a.m.) The Hendaye correspondent of .‘The Times’ says travellers from Barcelona, Madrid, and Bilbao report crowded prisons and many executions. Special courts try batches, who are machine-gunned in ditches at Montjuich, a suburb of Barcelona, also at the artillery range at Retamares. Informers are active against Spaniards and foreigners, including those who lived in Republican Spain during the war. The Government has informed France and the United States that prisoners of these nationalities would soon be released.
