RAILWAY DELAYS
FLOOD CONDITIONS ON MAIN TRUNK PASSENGER TRANSHIPMENT STILL NECESSARY [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, August 19. Owing to flood conditions between Levin and Shannon, the railway services are still dislocated, but it is hoped that the week-end will see the trouble overcome. An inspection of the line is being made by engineers to-day, and until this is completed it will not be known what repairs are needed. Passengers were still being transhipped to-day, and with this and tho necessity for proceeding slowly through the slip area, north of Taihape, passengers on the ordinary and Limited expresses from Auckland were delayed two hours in reaching Wellington. The Napier express from Wellington was again despatched via Wairarapa to-day. SOUTHBOUND PLANE DELAYED. Owing to the delayed arrival of the Limited from Auckland this morning Union Airways decided to delay the southbound plane from Wellington to enable passengers to connect with it. The Limited arrived at 11.27 a.m., and the plane left at 11.46.
