PRICE OF BEER.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —I notice in your Thursday night's issue that tho he-men of Lyttelton intend to boycott the publican until tho price of beer goes down, also Otago watorsiders are deeply cut up over the matter. Ido not read of any protests about tho price of food, such as potatoes 3d lb, smoked red cod fillet lOd, meat, etc. What a squeal when it hits “ hubby,” but no complaint when it affects the family 'meal. Perhaps wifio will see a bit more pay if “ hubby ” arrives homo now, not after the hotels close. Still, I think you will see the usual battalion waiting for tho hotels to open and hanging on after closing time I am, etc., Tax ’em. August 19.
