N.Z.'s 1938-39 Wool Season

New York advanced yesterday, Dow Jones industrials gaining exactly a point. The movement was supported by railroads, while turnover rose tp above the million share mark. New Zealand issues remained firm on the Dunedin market this morning, persistent buyers quoting late rates for selected leaders. Transtasman stocks were mainly inactive. Woolworths Properties Limited report a net profit of £14,783. Dividend at 6 per cent, absorbed £14,782, leaving a balance of £1 to be carried forward. The directors report that the company’s affairs are progressing favourably. Wool carry-over in the Dominion from the 1938-39 season will total 45,601 bales. More wool was sold as compared with the previous season, and although gross proceeds were up, the average price realised on bale and per lb was tower. The United Kingdom remained our best customer, with France next, then a big drop to several countries.
