(Received July 24, at 8 a.m.) The authorities have ordered the release of 400 Arabs from concentration camps as a gesture to Arab nationalists. BRITISH SOLDIERS AMBUSHED ONE KILLED AND FOUR WOUNDED JERUSALEM, July 23. (Received July 24, at 9 a.m.) Armed Arabs, believed to be/ members of the gang which kidnapped Gerald Goldmer, ambushed a party of British soldiers south of Hebron, killing one and wounding four. Goldmer notified his father, the Rev. Jacob Goldmer, “ Dear pops, I am fine and well treated. I hope to see you to-morrow.” The father was captured with Gerald, but was released. [A previous message stated: Eleven armed Arabs kidnapped an American missionary named Gerald Goldmer in the hills between Bethlehem and the Dead Sea, and are demanding £I,OOO ransom.]
