PILOT’S ERROR

CORONER'S FINDING CONFIRMED [Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, July 21. An ‘error of judgment on the part of the pilot was blamed for the flying accident at Great Barrier Island on March 17, when a passenger was killed and the pilot severely injured. This is the finding of a departmental inquiry a report of which was released to-day by the Minister of Defence (Air Jones). The Minister said that, as at the inquest completed in Auckland on June a 3 the coroner had found that the accident was caused by an error of judgment by the pilot, no useful purpose would now he served or additional information acquired by further investigation. Accordingly it was not intended to institute a magisterial inquiry.
