TRAMWAY BAND

ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the above band was held in the band room on Thursday evening, a full attendance of members being present. Owing to the president (Mr J. A. Richardson) being indisposed, Mr E. Morris was voted to the chair.

The chairman, in moving the adoption of the annual report and balance sheet, said it must bo very pleasing to members to know that the expenditure had been kept well down by the committee, which had helped to show a credit balance on the year just closed. The members must regretted losing the services of Mr E. H. Logie, who had been transferred to the North Island and who had been conductor for a number of years. Mr F. Hare, in seconding the motion, paid a tribute to the work of Mr J. Kcllett, conductor, for the able manner in which he had coached several young players. The election of officers resulted as follows;—Patrons—Hon. F. Jones, M.P., Cr D. C. Cameron, Messrs F. W. Mitchell, W. H. MacKenzie, and W. R. Richards; president, Mr E. Morris ; vice-presidents—Messrs J. A. Morris, E. Anderson, A. Webster, J. A. Richardson, Cr W. Lovell, and A. Reekie; hon. secretary, Mr W. Belcher; treasurer, Mr R. Thomson: band sergeant, Mr G. C. Hare; band corporal, Mr B. Thorn: committee— Messrs T. Hare, C. Steel, C. W. MTvay, H. S. Anderson, A. Russell, C. H, Duncan, and J. Mackio; custodian, Mr A. Russell: auditors— Messrs H. E. Lyons and H. M. Smith; collectors, Messrs E. Morris, A. Reekie, and W. Belcher. At the conclusion of the formal business a social was held in the social room, car sheds, to entertain members end friends. Items were given by the Tramways Orchestra under the leadership of Mr R. Matthews. Mr Jas. Patterson (songs!. Mr R. Macfarlane, and Mr Russell Smith (cornet solos), and Mr J. A. Morris (songs).
