Mr and Mrs Kenneth Throp, of Ashburton, are visiting Dunedin. Mrs 11. Semple, was a guest at the City Hotel last evening. Mrs John Shacklock is visiting Christchurch. Mrs K. Armstrong, of Auckland, is a guest at the City Hotel. Mrs Malcolm F. Calder has just arrived from England, and is the guest of her parents, Mr and Mrs H. Mandeno. Squadron-leader M. F. Calder is now stationed at Wigram, Christchurch. Miss Hazel Smith and Miss Ngaio Wilkin, were joint hostesses at a morning tea party at the Otago Women’s Club to-day, in honour of Miss Eileen Mollison. Their guests included: Mesdames J. F. Mollison, Richard Hudson, Dora Smeaton, M. H. Barron, Roland Fulton, E. R. Harty, W. Robertson, J. Taylor, J. R. Glendining, R. Stuart Glendining, E. A. _ Duncan, L. Wilkin, R. Elliott; the Misses M. and H. Mollison, Edith Wilkin, Margery Elliott, Kathleen Greenslade, A. Pryde, Pat Duncan, D. M'Hutchison, and Thelma Hudson. On their arrival in Dunedin last evening to compete in the Drama League Festival of PJays the members of a team of players from Baleluths were met by Mrs J. Sutherland Ross (president of the Otago branch of the league) and entertained to tea at her residence, “ Broomhill,” before performing at the Concert Chamber. This evening the teams from Oamaru and Balclutha will also enjoy Mrs Ross’s hospitality. Mrs H. J. Dodgshun entertained friends at her home in _ Balmnccwen road yesterday afternoon in honour of Mrs R. D. B. Paterson, who will leave at the end of the month to reside at Heriot. Others present included Alesdames Maurice Joel, Rolf Ross, Reufry Harris, and Misses Pat Hanlon and Dorothy Clark.

A successful card evening, arranged under the auspices of the Dunedin West branch of the National Party, was held on Thursday evening at the Tudor Hall. The guests, numbering approximately 260, were received by the vice-chairman of the branch, Air T. K. S. Sidey and Mrs Sidey, the latter wearing a gown of clover cloque trimmed in pale blue.

Airs Malcolm Calder was the guest of honour at an enjoyable 5 o’clock party, given by Airs S. L. Wilson at her home in Bunvood Avenue. Mrs Calder, who has lived in England since her marriage a few years ago, will leave shortly to settle in Christchurch. Among those invited to meet her were Meedames John Solomon, Ernest Boddy, Kenneth Macmillan. T. K. S. Sidey, Stephen Reeves, Ralph Sleigh, and Misses Betty and Alary Reeves, Winna Johnstone, Peggy Brewer, Pam Miles, Betty Gilchrist, and Peggy and Mildred Seorgie.

At the conclusion of the Drama League festival to-night a trophy for the winning play, one for the playwriting competition (given annually by Lady Ferguson, patron of the Otago branch of the league), and one for the best individual performance (given by Lady Sargood) will be presented by Lady Ferguson. Certificates will also be presented to all the groups.

To honour Miss Eileen Mollison and Mr E S. Cook, of Australia, whose marriage takes place next Tuesday, Miss Peg. Campbell was hostess nt a 5 o’clock party yesterday afternoon in the lounge of the Hose Suite at the City Hotel. Her guests included Meslaraes D’Ath and L. F. M'Cormack, Mr and Mrs W. Veitch, Mr and Mrs S. Greenslade, Mr and Mrs M. 11. Greenslade. the Misses Moira Donnelly. K. I. Hilliker. Iris M'Kcnzio, Lilias Samson, Molly Itunnerstrum,

Lorraine Barton, Valda Brown, Beth Hazelwood, Iris and Audrey Trengrove, Messrs J. Craig, E. Elder, M. Paterson, A. Hart, I. Glendining, C. Benzoni, J. Busch (Palmerston North), and A. Brugh. Next Wednesday, July 26, the annual World Fellowship Fair will be held at the Y.W.C.A., in Moray Place. There will be all the usual stalls, and in addition there will be bran tuba, darts, and ping-pong for the younger or more energetic patrons. Afternoon tea will be served in the cafeteria, and admission to the fair will be by tea ticket. During the evening a short concert will be given by the younger members of the association. Doors will open at 2.30 p.m., and the fair will bo officially opened by Miss Downie Stewart at *3 o’clock. '

Dunedin Travel Club. The nest meeting of the Dunedin Travel Club will be held at the Vedic Cafe on Wednesday morning. The speaker will be Miss Shields, of Canada, and the hostesses Mrs H. H. Dobie and Miss Molly Runnerstrum. Double Twenty-first Birthday Party. An unusual event in the form of a double twenty-first birthday party was celebrated at Wilson Hall recently. The guests of honour were Messrs Dick Holt and Gordon M'Donald, both of Forth street. The guests, numbering about 120, were received by Mrs E. Holt and Mrs W. M'Donald, the former wearing a wine charmonion satin frock and black velvet cape, and the latter favouring saxe blue cloque with furtrimmed coatee. The evening was spent in dancing. Aliss Cora Duff and Mr Leo Schmeltz gave an exhibition of a quick-step which was greatly enjoyed, as was a vocal solo by Aliss Dorothy Schmetz. Air A. Holt acted as Af.C. During supper the guests of honour were presented by their respective fathers with the traditional key. The health of Air and Airs Holt was proposed by Air Chettleburgh, and that of Mr and Airs Al'Donald by Air Milward. Alusio was supplied by Alessrs V. Rusbatch, C. Cosgrove, R. Keitii (Oamaru), and D. Holt.
