Gale arrived this morning from Wellington to load and sail on Monday evening for Timaru ; Lyttelton, Wellington, and Wanganui. Aliro is expected at Port Chalmers on Monday to discharge explosives. She will later load at Dunedin for Auckland direct. Wainui is due from Bluff on Tuesday, and will sail the same day for Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Nanier, and Gisborne. Totara was to leave Westport yesterday for Port Chalmers, where she is expected on Monday. Port Whangarei is due from Wellington on Monday to load and sail the same day for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, and New Plymouth. Storm is due on Tuesday from Timaru to load for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Picton, and Wanganui. Waimarino was to leave Auckland yesterday for Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Bluff. She is due here on Wednesday, and will sail the same day for Bluff, returning obi:Saturday to load and) sail the same day for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Auckland. Aymeric arrived at Lyttelton on Tuesday with a phosphate cargo from Nauru Island, and at Havensbourne this morning. She will come to Dunedin on Wednesday to complete, and will sail the next day for Westport. Tongariro left Liverpool on May 22 for Auckland (arrived June 30), Wellington. Lyttelton. Dunedin, and New Plymouth. She is due here to-morrow, and will sail on Tuesday for New Plymouth. Tolten left Los Angeles on Juno 11 for Auckland, Wellington, and Dunedin. Passengers and mails for tho south connected with the express. AUSTRALIA-NEW ZEALAND. Awatca left Wellington yesterday, and is due at Sydney on Monday. She will leave Sydney the next day, is due at Auckland on Friday, will leave on July 31. and is due at Sydney on August 3. Wanganella left Auckland on Thursday, is due at Sydney on Monday and at Melbourne on Wednesday. She will leave there the same day, and Sydney on Saturday for Wellington, where she is due on August 2. Mariposa left Melbourne on Monday, and Sydney yesterday, for Auckland (due Monday). —Cargo.— Waipori will sail on Wednesday for Timaru. Waitaki is to leave Melbourne on Wednesday for Bluff, Dunedin. Lyttelton, and Wellington, and is due here on August 1. Ornana has loaded at Edithburg, and will complete at Adelaide and Melbourne (Tuesday) for Bluff, Dunedin, Wellington, Castlecliff, and New Plymouth. She is due here about August 2. ISLANDS SERVICE. Maui Pornare loft Wellington on July 11 for Apia and Niue. She is due back at Lyttelton on July 31, at Wellington on August 2, and will leave on August 8 on her return. The three outstanding features of the second-hand tonnage market in April were the large number of purchases by Germany and by Japan and the largo number of Greek ships sold, states the ‘ Syren and Shipping.’ Germans were persistent buyers, and would have acquired even more vessels if the British and Greek Governments had not put an embargo on sales. They took from hte United Kingdom the Essex Envoy (8,323 tons dw., built 1922) at £4 Is Cd a ton dw., Laleham (8,100 tons, 1915) at £3 2s, Meopham (7,350 tons; 1916) at £3 Bs, and Peckham (8,756 tons, 1912) at £2 17s; from Greece they acquired the Mount Ossa (11,072 tons, 1919) at £3 Is Od, Mount Helmos (10,175 tons, 1923) at £3 14s, and tanker Vassos (6,950 tons, 1912) at £3 12s; from Norway the Bose (4,775 tons, 1938) and tanker Sir Karl Knudsen (11,180 tons, 1923); and from Denmark the M.C. Holm (5,115 tons, 1924) at £6 12s. E’innish buyers were also active, taking the British Fredavore (1,600 tons, 1905) and Camden (2,196 tons, 1911) and the Norwegian Salamis (3,100 tons, 1923) at £6 8s; while Japanese buyers acquired live Greek vessels, the Agios Vlasios (8,470 tons, 1914), Muneric (8,000 tons, 1919), Mount Atlas (9,500 tons, 1916), Mount Cynthos (8,330 tons, 1918), and Michalakis (8,160 tons, 1919). GUANO FROM SEYCHELLES. A. S. Paterson and Co. advise that the Swedish vessel Nordnes is to clear Seychelles Islands early next month with a cargo of guano for discharge at Bluff. MAUNGANUI’S CRUISE. On her island cruise, the Maunganui sailed from Suva at 6 p.m. on Wednesday in fine weather. Passengers there enjoyed motor trips in beautiful tropical surroundings, while an islands night entertainment and ball were held in Grand Pacific Hotel, and a firewalking display was given by natives of Bega. At 8 a.m. on Thursday she made Lautoka, and sailed at 4 p.m. the same day, again in fine weather. Parties were conducted through the great sugar mill, while some made overland motor trips. The cruise itinerary, which was altered through the outbreak of smallpox at Tahiti, will conclude at Noumea-on July 24, when the vessel will leave for Auckland.
