July 19, at 10 a.m.) A bomber of the Forty-fourth Squad* ron crashed at Corby, killing the four occupants, including Flying-officer O. I. Jobson, of New Zealand. The machine apparently lost its bearings, dived at full speed into the edge of a wood, exploded. and ignited. CAME FROM HAWERA [Pee United Press Association.] HAWERA, July 19. Flying-officer Jobson, who was killed in the air crash at Corby, was the youngest of three sons of Mr and Mrs W. Jobson, of Hawera. He was educated at the Wanganui Preparatory and .Collegiate Schools, and for soma time was on the staff of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Company at Hawera. He took a prominent part in provincial swimming championships and surf life saving. After a course of training under Flying-officer lan Keith he was nominated for the Royal Air Force, and about three years ago went to England, earning rapid promotion.

(Received July 19, at 2 p.m.) It was announced at a meeting of the New South Wales Eij*h£eeufooters' League that the Australian Board of Control had decided not to contiuuo with B. Swinbourue’s appeal against the Taree’s disqualification in the wolid championship, held at Auckland in February. The Queensland and New South Wales'members of the Board of Control agreed that, although the conditions of the championship had not been carried out, it was in the interests of interdlominion sporting harmony that the decision in New Zealand should remain unaltered. Swinbourne protested that the board had no authority to make such a decision. He had appealed! to New Zealand, not New South Wales or Queensland. , . . _ . As a result of the decision Swinhourne has resigned! from the league.
