CRICKETERS’ FUNCTION
OCEAH BEACH CLUB'S " SMOKO " The annual smoke social of the Ocean Beach Cricket Club was presided over by the president (Mr Cl era Beck), there being an attendance of SO members and supporters. Mr Beck complimented the team on its record, which consisted of 20 matches played, 13 won, and 7 drawn. Mr J. H. Pearson replied to the president’s remarks, and other speakers were Mr F. M'Naughton (captain) and Mr R. F. Henderson (vice-captain). The Ron Watson Cup for the best all-rounder was won by V. Holderness, and the Fogo Trophy for most catches taken by J. G. Mills. The batting average was topped by F. M'Naughton,
M. A. Caradus being runner-up,, white V. Holderness captured the bowling average, with J. G. Mills second. A lengthy toast list was interspersed with songs and musical numbers, items being rendered by Messrs Leighton, Cherry, Parker, Dunue, Sherburd* M‘Coraber,.and Fogo. Messrs 0. Stokes, TO. Crawford, and R. Lariib, of the Savonia Band, supplied the musical numbers, the official pianists being Messrs P. Beaumont and P. Driscoll.
