POLISH-GERMAN RELATIONS INQUIRY INTO KALTHOF INCIDENT DEMANDED EXCHANGES BETWEEN WARSAW AND DANZIG SENATE Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright WARSAW, May 22. The Government sent a Note to the Danzig Senate demanding a stringent inquiry into the Kalthof incident, reparations for the damage done, and assurances for the safety of Polish citizens of the Free City. The Danzig Senate sent a counternote demanding compensation for Gruebner’s relatives, an apology from the Polish Government, and the surrender of Marawski. [Marawski is the Polish citizen who shot Gruebner, one of the Germans who attacked the Kalthof Customshouse.] FURTHER POLISH NOTE DANZIG, May 22. (Received May 23, at 8 a.m.) A further Polish Note has been handed to the Senate amplifying the frontier incidents, CUSTOMS OFFICERS AT PEIKLE POLICE ORDERED TO EFFECT RESCUE. WARSAW, May 22. As the result of a strong protest by the Polish Commissioner in Danzig, M. Chodacki, the Senate ordered the police to rescue the besieged Customs officers at Peikle. The Nazis dispersed, shouting “ Wo shall return.” It is understood that M. Chodacki told the Senate that unless the police guaranteed the safety of the Polish officials, Poland would take her own measures. AMBASSADOR CALLED TO WARSAW LONDON, May 22. (Received May 23, at 10 a.m.) The Polish Ambassador has suddenly flown to Warsaw for an important consultation regarding European developments.
