RELICS OF A PAST AGE. An old gas lamp and gaslighter’s ladder, the former the only one left' in the city streets. Gas served as a means of illumination for a long period, commencing in September, 1863. Electricity commenced in 1904, but it was not for many years that it completely eliminated gas in the streets, and many people of the present generation can remember the gaslighter going his round with light, ladder, and pole.
