LOSS OF ARM
AWARDED £2,607 DAMAGES SEQUEL TO MOTOR COLLISION [Per United Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, May 23. Holding that the defendant was guilty of negligent driving and the plaintiff not gouty of contributory negligence, the jury in the Supreme Court to-day awarded £2,500 general and £lO7 special damages to Peter Brooky, cabinetmaker, ox Wellington, against Frederick George hotelkeeper, of Reefton. The action was the sequel to a collision in Buller Gorge between Brooky’s motor cycle and Lynch’s car, as a result of which Brodky’s arm was amputated. The jury added a rider that legislation should be enacted similar to the Workers’ Compensation Act as a guide to the assessment of various types of injury arising from t-rnflic accidents.
