ORPHANS ENTERTAINED
GUESTS Of AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION OUTING AT WiNGATUI The Wingatui racecourse on Saturday presented a cheerful sight to the onlookers, as it was the scene of the annual picnic arranged by the Automobile Association (Otago) for the orphanage children. Fifty-three cars and a bus were required to take the 295 youngsters and their mentors to the grounds, where they spent an enjoyable afternoon. Ice creams and light refreshments were provided. During the • afternoon .one minor casualty occurred, a girl being struck by a ball, but first nidi was promptly rendered by the service officers. Mr J. L. Passmore operated a public address sound system, which he had installed and which proved of great assistance in controlling the children, besides providing music for them. A ventriloquist, Mr Eggers, also contributed to their entertainment. The president and executive of the Automobile Association wish to extend their thanks to all those who lent their cars for the occasion or helped in other ways. .
